Booing Bettman

This morning the talking heads on the NHL on XM (I think their names are Rossy and Kerns) were irate over the disrespect shown to Commissioner Bettman last night in Vancouver. One can understand their natural bias (these guys work for the NHL and are, technically, Gary’s employees). But, are they seriously clueless as to why Bettman is hated?

As if it wasn’t bad enough that the league has over expanded and the talent pool become diluted during Bettman’s watch, it seems these guys have conveniently forgotten the lockout. I guess to them it was all the players fault, not the greedy owners and irresponsible GMs writing the big checks.

Seriously, someone needs to go on the NHL on XM and let these guys have it when the condescend to their listeners. That isn’t likely to happen. They would never entertain any disparagement of their precious league or boss. To make matters worse, they give an inordinate amount of airtime to numb skulls like Denis “the Skirt” Potvin. More reason to tune out.

The censored and biased opinions of the talking heads on venues like the NHL on XM is why pod casts by real fans across the league will continue to grow. The NHL on XM can peddle their drivel to the masses. The masses may just choose not to listen.

Congratulations to the Boston Bruins

Congratulations to the Boston Bruins on defeating the Vancouver Canucks to win the Stanley Cup 39 years after they defeated the New York Rangers four games to two in 1972.

The last time the Canucks made it to the Stanley Cup final they were defeated by the New York Rangers in 1994.

Further congratulations to Conn Smythe Winner Tim Thomas, only the second American to be named the MVP of the Stanley Cup playoffs. Brian Leetch was the first.

It should be noted that the 2010-2011 New York Rangers defeated Boston in their season series three games to one. We live in hope.
